Alexis Allen

Lead Teacher

Miss Allen lives in Chalmette and comes from a family of educators. She graduated from the International High School of New Orleans and attended Nunez Community College. Shortly thereafter she interned for Nola Youth Works at City Hall. She currently holds an Ancillary Certificate in Early Childhood from the Dept. of Ed.  She is  currently a student at Delgado Community College pursing a degree in Care & Development in Young Children. Her longtime goal is to obtain a Bachelors in Early Childhood and eventually own a childcare center. In her spare time Alexis enjoys doing makeup for friends and family,  watching movies, and playing with her Yorkie.

Nicole Jackson

Lead Teacher


Ms. Nicole is very excited to be a part of the Mid-City family. She’s been in the childcare industry for 8 years, with most of her experience being with infants and one-year-olds. For many of her students, this is the first introduction to a school setting. Her goal is to provide them with a fun and nurturing learning environment by working closely with each individual child to ensure he/she is reaching all developmental milestones. She comes from a background of healthcare providers, including her mom, sister and three of her aunts. She was born and raised in Destrehan, LA and married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Michael. Together they have four beautiful children: Michael Jr. (18), Maya (13), Mariah (12) and Micah (5). In her free time, Nicole loves listening to music and practically lives at the movies.


Jamara Eugene

Assistant Teacher

Jamara is a graduate of Destrehan High School. She has worked in early childhood education for 4 years prior to starting at MCELC in 2019. She previously attended Blue Cliff College where she studied to be a patient care Technician/Dialysis.  She is planning to return to school to get her CDA in Early Childhood.  Jamaara has three daughters Ke’Mya, Kemyri’ and Kionyah and has been married for 5 years.

Jamara loves to cook, bake travel and watch football (Go Saints!)  In her spare time, she  plays softball with her girls and enjoys going on "dates" with her husband.


Jhane' Varnado

Assistant Teacher

Jhane’ Varnado was born and raised in Kenner, Louisiana.  She is a senior student at the Southern University at New Orleans studying child development.  Jhane’s goal is to create classrooms filled with love and learning for every child, no matter the age.
