The Mid-City Early Learning Center (MCELC) is a State of Louisiana licensed Type One day care facility conveniently located in the heart of Mid-City on Canal Street and is easily accessible by the streetcar.
Our newly renovated facility provides quality, affordable child-care for children from 6 weeks through 3 years of age. We offer full time childcare Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm throughout the year.
Our program carries out the mission of the adjacent Canal Street Church: A Mosaic Community by creating an environment for young children where they are valued highly, their individuality is celebrated, their faith is fostered and their relationships are treasured. As part of our programming, we include weekly chapel services and integrate foundational biblical principles.
MCELC offers baby/infant, toddler, and pre-school 3 classes to accommodate our students as they grow and develop from infancy into preparation for entering Pre-K4. Each class’ curriculum is teacher-written in a creative fashion and assessed using the Creative Curriculum Goals and Objectives. Additionally, we have designed a natural, secured outdoor playground and classroom where students can freely express themselves whether it be riding on tricycles, playing with instruments or performing on our wooden stage.
As a parent, we highly encourage you to continually be engaged in your child’s classroom and we are committed to keeping open, transparent lines of communication. Your involvement can range from being a part of the Parent Advisory Board or offering your volunteerism.
